Cynthia A. chandler, principal

Cindy began her career of executive recruiting in 1995. Prior to starting Chandler Group, she was Vice President at a prominent, regional executive search firm and began her search career with a New York based international search firm. She has served clients in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, financial services, consumer products, nonprofit and professional services. Searches completed include the functional areas of finance, human resources, senior management, sales, and marketing, communications, plant management and operations.

Cindy's total commitment to client service and her reputation for thoroughness and industry knowledge is endorsed by her many repeat clients.

Prior to her career in executive search, Cindy spent fifteen years with American Express Financial Advisors and Piper Jaffray. She received her BA from the University of Minnesota and has been an active community volunteer for many years, serving on various committees and boards. She is very active in the civic and non-profit community having served on several different boards.










Brad J. chandler, principal

Brad has conducted senior level executive search assignments throughout the United States since 1991. Prior to forming Chandler Group with Cindy Chandler, he was the Managing Vice President of the Minneapolis office of a national executive search firm focused on the healthcare industry.

Brad assists his clients with the recruitment and retention of executives in the health care and managed care industries. He has conducted senior level search assignments for health plans, integrated delivery systems, hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical manufacturers, PBMs, medical device OEMs, informatics companies and TPAs.

Many of the nation's leading health care organizations have developed long-term partnerships with Brad to continuously assess the most effective organizational structures and select carefully matched executives to meet current needs and ensure long-term success.

Brad, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, has previous experience as the Vice President of Operations and then Chief Executive Officer of a firm specializing in market research for health care and technology companies, as well as a division involved in physician search. Brad's experience and knowledge of effective leadership methods and styles benefit his clients when helping them to assess their organizational requirements.










Thom B. Telfer, partner

Thom's career spans more than twenty years including 11 of those years as the Managing Principal of an organization specializing in executive search and contract engineering, which served the automotive, machine tool, IT and material handling industries. In addition to senior management experience, Thom's involvement was broad-based and included consulting to client organizations in the selection, recruiting, and retention of senior management and technical leadership. In his role as VP Client Services for Right Management, Thom managed the business relationships between Right Management Consultants and a diverse client base consisting of Fortune 100 and 500 companies.

Thom personally directed career and organizational consulting efforts to corporate clients in the areas of Leadership Development, Organizational Performance, Talent Management, Retention and Selection with special expertise in the design of Career Development, Career Transition and Survivor Management services. Thom has additional experience in facilitation, public speaking, and providing career transition coaching to individuals. Thom served as a member of Right Management Consultants Inaugural 2002 Presidential Advisory Committee.

Thom attended Michigan State University, and served in the USAF.










Chris A. Cohen

Chris has been in the search industry since 1997 and since that time has built a retained executive search practice focused on non-profit leadership and fundraising, marketing, sales, management, finance and operations search assignments. Chris has led numerous senior level national nonprofit search assignments.  

Prior to her career in search, Chris had a successful career in distribution channel management. She spent four years with Cy DeCosse, Inc. managing key accounts and assisting in the establishment of their retail business.

In 1990, Chris joined LEARN PC, a publisher of information technology training materials, where she held various positions in Strategic Relationships/Partnerships and distribution channel management. LEARN PC was acquired by Gartner Group, Inc. At Gartner Group, Chris continued to grow the company’s consumer products division through expanded distribution, software developer relationships for co-marketing/branding programs, and key account management. Before leaving Gartner Group, Chris managed the Consumer Products Group, responsible for all aspects of the business unit.

Chris earned her MBA from the University of St. Thomas and her BA in International Relations from the University of Minnesota, supplemented with studies in Washington D.C., at the University of Erlangen, Germany and in Salzburg, Austria. Throughout her career Chris has volunteered with numerous community organizations and local politics. Most recently, she has been involved with the Outward Bound USA task force to establish a Twin Cities Urban Center, the Sabes JCC Human Resources Task Force, Blake School parent volunteer and Grays Landing Association President. Chris is married and has two young children.  As a family, they enjoy sailing, skiing, and other outdoor activities. She is an active runner and once ran the Twin Cites Marathon.










Chris E. Fryer, Vice President

Chris is a Vice President at Chandler Group. He brings over 20 years of recruiting and executive search experience to the clients that he serves in financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing industries.

Prior to joining Chandler Group Executive Search, Chris was a Client Partner in the Minneapolis office of Korn/Ferry International. Before that, he served as Vice President of Recruiting with Ameriprise Financial where he developed and implemented an end-to-end strategy to recruit a high volume of successful, veteran financial advisors. In that capacity, he served as lead during M&A activities to acquire other broker-dealers. Chris also spent five years as Vice President of Executives Search for Piper Jaffray, where he led the recruitment initiative for high producing financial advisors and executives. Earlier in his career, Chris specialized in the healthcare industry working as the Director of Physician Recruiting for North Memorial Health Care and was also the recruitment Director for HealthQuest, an organization that specialized in the recruitment of physical, occupational and speech therapists. His manufacturing expertise was gained while working at Cargill where he specialized in the recruitment of technology professionals, plant engineers, research/lab professionals and operations personnel.

Chris holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Minnesota. He resides in Plymouth, MN with his wife and three children. He enjoys fishing, coaching baseball, and family activities.










Nancy L. Hanna, Vice President

Nancy has a successful history of building high performing senior leadership teams and serving as a strong partner to CEO's and Boards of Directors. She has served in executive roles and on the senior leadership teams of international corporations such as Cray Research, PLATO Learning, Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI) and Ceridian Corporation.

With hands-on experience in the C-suite and in boardrooms, Nancy offers a valuable understanding of what is required to lead in today’s complex business environments.  She provides Chandler Group clients with a practical, real-world approach to assessing organizational needs and finding the right talent to meet critical requirements for key leadership roles.

Steve has over 20 years experience in Human Resources leadership positions in public & private companies. Steve has held multiple executive HR positions reporting to the CEO, including VP of HR & Employee Communications for Jostens, and Fortis Healthcare, Steve has held other HR leadership positions at Sun Microsystems, Cray Research, Weyerhaeuser and Sperry. He has established himself as a strategic partner who has developed HR strategies and implemented initiatives that ensure that the companies' goals were met.

Steve's experience includes leading organizational change in multiple industries, designing and implementing executive and sales compensation programs. He has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions. He has designed and implemented succession planning and leadership programs as well as fostered senior level mentoring and development. Steve has been a coach/mentor for Mentium, an organization dedicated to the development of women executives.

Steve received his Masters in Organizational Development from Whitworth College and a B.S. in Education from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Human Resource Executive Council of Minnesota and a former Advisory Board Member of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
